2018 Spring Ride Part 4
The next morning we had breakfast at the Fort Davis Drug Store and Hotel. They have kept the original soda fountain and have an informal restaurant area.
After breakfast a group of us rode 25 miles north to TX 1832 – Boy Scout Ranch Road. The road goes through cattle pastures and winds between some rugged cliffs. In several places we had to wait for cattle to walk off the road. The Boy Scout camp is at the end of the road.
Next I went by myself to Fort Davis Mountains State Park. I rode up to a couple of overlooks to take pictures of the valley to the East. The MacDonald Observatory is also visible from one of the overlooks.
After the state park I visited the ruins of Fort Davis, which is pictured above.
Late in the afternoon a group of us rode to the Big Bend Brewing Company for a taste of their craft beer.
Finally, we had dinner in downtown Alpine at Guzzi Up.
Back at the hotel we spent the evening chatting and enjoying adult beverages.
