77th Motor Maids Convention – Day 2
The major event on the second day of the convention is the Dot Robinson Road Rally. Beth got up before 6 a.m. to go get her starting time and route directions. This year, thanks to the initiative of Motor Maids Vice President Sandra Hinksman, we had the 2nd Pajama-Rama at registration for the rally. Photo credit to Kerri Nymph Jenkins.
The route was 69.7 miles. The goal of the run is to average 30 mph throughout the ride. There are between four and six hidden check points along the way. Everyone starts with 1000 points. Two points are deducted for each minute the rider arrives at the check point early and one point is deducted for each minute late.
The riders assemble in order and are sent out one at a time at one minute intervals. Beth drew #47.
Beth taped the directions on her tank. She marked each turn with the time she should arrive.
She moved up to the starting line…
When she got back she felt she’d done pretty well. Now all there is to do is wait for the results to be published.
The results have been posted and Beth scored 996, but that wasn’t enough to place. There were three riders with perfect scores of 1000!
LATE UPDATE – There are mistakes in the scores, so they have to be checked and recomputed. Stay tuned, as they say.
LATER UPDATE – Houston, we have a problem.
Good job Beth!! It’s all that 30mph practice you get on 54th that did it – I’m sure! 🙂
