A Lotta Nuthin’ and Then Mountains
The first thing I did after breakfast this morning was walk across the street to the Napa store and return the Bearing Buddies that didn’t fit correctly. They didn’t stock the right part, but suggested I try Rancher’s Supply. The guy at Rancher’s Supply didn’t have any Bearing Buddies, but he did have the rubber boot I needed. He charged me $1.12. What a deal that was.
We didn’t have a long drive today, but there were some long distances between towns, so we gassed up more often than usual. In the 75 miles between La Junta and Walsenburg there was almost no development. I saw only one or two homes.
In Walsenburg we found a parallel parking spot and walked around the block to a diner.
This is Broncos country, in case you hadn’t noticed. We had coffee and lunch then headed over to the Safeway to pick up a couple of things for dinner.
A couple of people stopped to talk to me while Beth was in shopping. They wanted to know where we are from, where we are going, etc. Of course they were interested in the trailer, the hitch, and the gas mileage. As usual, I handed out stickers and told them about my website and YouTube channel. We always meet friendly people when we are out riding.
From Walsenburg we continued west. We went over North La Veta Pass, through Alamosa, and ended the day in Del Norte, CO. We are camped at Woods & River RV Park. As you can see, we are camped in the woods…
With a view of the river.
While Beth did some laundry, I went into town for ice and a bottle of Nut Brown Ale. Beth fixed a delicious dinner of chick and mixed vegetables with Korma sauce.
After yesterday’s 105 degree temperatures, this evening’s 68 degrees seems chilly. I think we’ll be in our sleeping bags soon.
We covered an easy 280 miles today.
Love reading your daily posts.
Thanks for checking in. We’re up in the mountains in Lake City – Colorado, that is.
Nice
It looks like a nice spot! And the weather sounds much nicer.
Janice and me are so glad that you are having a good time on your trip. Hot here to no not much rain.
I love the space you guys have over there, I spent some time in Canada – less people more space👍
