Communication Equipment
If you ride with a partner or with a group, you’ll find it is much easier to coordinate your ride if you can talk to the other riders. For many years some touring bikes have been equipped with CB radios. Those radios work well for bike-to-bike communication regardless of the size of the group. If your bike is not equipped with a CB, Bluetooth communicators provide bike-to-bike communication with the advantage of not being tethered to the bike with a cable.
Bluetooth Communicator
I’ve used the SENA 20S communicator for several years. I owned a pair of the SENA 30K communicators. The 30K model has “Mesh” technology, which allows any number of riders to join in the conversation. The audio multitasking feature, that overrides the music you are listening to when someone else is talking, does not work on the 30K. I put in a trouble ticket, but Sena was never able to fix the problem, so they took back the units and sent me the 20S EVO units. The 20S units work so well that I don’t feel the need to upgrade.
20S EVO
If you don’t need the mesh communication feature, you can buy the updated 20S EVO model in a singe or dual pack.

50S and 50R
The latest units are the 50R and the 50S. The 50S has all the features of the 30K and clips onto the helmet with the same system as the 30K and 20S. The 50R mounts directly to the helmet and has 3 buttons instead of the jog dial.
If you want the latest models with mesh communication you can get either the 50S or 50R in single or dual packs.

Freewire
SENA also makes a device that allows you to “cut the cord” to your bike’s communication system. The Freewire plugs into your bike’s headset jack and connects to your helmet headset via Bluetooth.

This is the model for Harley-Davidson bikes equipped with radios or the new Infotainment system.

This is the model for Goldwings.
Custom Molded Ear Plugs
Hearing protection has become an important topic in recent years. Just as it’s important to wear hearing protection on the job, it’s important to protect your hearing while riding. You could spend $75 at a motorcycle show for custom molded ear plugs or you could make them yourself with this inexpensive product.
