Couldn’t Escape the Rain
We rode east on I-10 to the US-19 exit where we filled our gas tanks. Not far down the road we ran into a downpour. Fortunately the one rest stop on this highway was only a mile away. Our face shields were fogged and my glasses were fogged. I could hardly see. Normally I use a pin-lock inside my face shield, but it shrank in the Kansas heat and had to be discarded. I’ve put replacing it on my to-do list.
We watched the radar app and when there was a break, we shot down the “slot” between storms. We didn’t completely avoid the rain, but we were able to make it to Cross City Market, where we had lunch.
As we were eating, the heavy rain started again.
We got back on the bikes after the rain stopped and rode the rest of the way home without further incident. We tucked the bikes and trailer into the garage, pulled out all the dirty laundry, had refreshing showers, and sorted through all the mail. After nearly two months away, there were only about 15 pieces of mail that didn’t go in the recycle bin!
Our next-door neighbors were happy to see us arrive safely and treated us to Thai take-out for dinner. They also put some beer in the fridge the day before.
In a couple of days we’ll post some reflections and highlights of our trip. There were many, and we’ll sort them out.
Hi Tim glad to se you made it back safe and overall it looks like you had a great trip… Gary
I’d be interested to see a “final thoughts” report on Time Out camper, likes, dislikes, will you use it again etc.
