Today we slept in and went to the Natchez visitors’ center after breakfast. We decided to take the city bus tour to learn more about historic Natchez and to see which houses we might like to visit.

The tour took 1-1/2 hours and covered the downtown and a few surrounding areas. Our bus driver did a very good job of pointing out the sights and explaining some of the history. We stopped at one home, Melrose, now owned by the Park Service, and at the sight of the slave trading, called the Forks of the Road.

We decided to save visiting some homes for another trip and left town around 11:30 am. We took US 98 to Mobile and then got on I-10. We got into some showers east of Pensacola and decide to stop for the night.

We covered 353 miles in about 8 hours. It was very hot and humid all day long. Showers, a Margarita, and dinner were fitting ends to the day.
