Off and Running
Saturday, July 2 – Woodstock, GA. We were up at our usual hour and go all our things together and packed the bikes.
We left at 7 am, got gas, and headed north on i-275 and I-75. The first couple of hours were very foggy. We have traveled together in lots of different kinds of weather, but I think this is the first time we encountered extended fog.
First stop at a gas station and citrus outlet.
By our first stop the fog had lifted, the sun was out, and the temperature was climbing. The rest of the day was sunny and in the 90s. It was HOT.
We spent all day just putting the miles behind us. I-75 is three lanes all the way to Atlanta (maybe even farther. We’ll find out tomorrow.) There was “city” traffic the entire length of the highway. We had to be vigilant at all times. We also had to use our Camelbacks to keep hydrated.
We ended the day in Woodstock, GA at the home of Phil, from the Motorcycle Travel Network. We covered 526 miles in 10 hours with several stops for gas, mental breaks & cooling off.
We walked to downtown Woodstock for dinner. The downtown area has been revitalized and has some nice shops and restaurants.
Tomorrow we plan to ride secondary roads between Chattanooga and Louisville.
