Convention 2014 Day 2
The second day of the convention, Wednesday, always begins at 6 a.m. with the ceremonial drawing of the numbered “post positions” for the Dot Robinson Road Run. The event is a timed road rally covering 60 miles of roads in two hours. The goal is to complete the course with, not the fastest time, but the most accurate time. This is determined by the times riders reach the five “secret” checkpoints along the course. Riders must average 30 mph. It’s a pretty competitive event. Beth has ridden it every year and consistently places in the top 10. The afternoon was scheduled free time. Many people went out to ride the Three Sisters.
Javelina Harley-Davidson hosted an open house and lunch, so several of us went there to do a typical dealer visit. We didn’t buy anything, but we had fun watching others buy tee shirts and small accessories. One of our friends took a Softtail Heritage CVO (fancy) for a test ride, but decided not to buy it.
The main event of the day was the parade. The route went from the hotel, through town, to the VA hospital.
I was able to get some video of the parade. (The link to the video is in the sidebar.)
Again, people avoided the hotel restaurant and found a restaurant in town for dinner.
