Convention 2015 Day 1
The morning was the welcome meeting for the Motor Maids. The guys had the option of going on either of a couple of guided rides. Beth went to her meeting and I went on a ride north up the coast. The weather today was wonderful. When we stopped at a park along our route, one of the women in the visitors’ center said it was the hottest day of the year and wasn’t it too hot to ride? Apparently she had never experienced summer in Florida.
We continued north to a restaurant where I had a lobster roll.
A couple of us headed straight back to the hotel after lunch to assist with the staging of the bikes for the parade through town. We got everyone parked and the women lined up for a picture. Statistics have not be posted yet, but there are nearly 400 Motor Maids participating this year – a record number. Beth is smack dab in the middle of the picture. Can you find her?
There was an interlude of 45 minutes after the picture until the parade started. Beth used the time to check messages and post to Facebook.
The parade went through three towns – Riverview, Dieppe and Moncton – and was a success. The local police and fire departments assisted, along with many spouses and friends of the Motor Maids at various intersections to hold back traffic along the 9 km route…do the math!
