Convention 2015 Day 3
Thursday morning is the business meeting. There was lots to talk about, including two proposed bylaws changes, so the meeting ran more than 4 hours. Mid-morning the results of the Dot Robinson Road Rally were posted. Beth won first place in the A Class! Our friend, Lynne Ellis from Gulfport won 3rd place in the A Class, and another Florida gal, Lisa Snow, won 4th place in the A Class. They received their awards at the evening’s banquet.
Jumping back to the afternoon, we went for a walk after lunch. On the way back we stopped at the stands along the river to watch the Tidal Bore. The bore is the leading edge of the water that is pushed up the river from the Bay of Fundy as the tide rises. The height of the wave can be anywhere from 3 cm to 1 m, based on the positions of the sun and moon, winds, etc. I posted a video of the bore coming in and a surfer riding it.
The banquet is the crowning event of the convention. More than 400 members and more than 100 guests registered for the convention. Almost all of them were at the dinner.
The food was excellent, the recognitions and awards were very much appreciated. The Atlantic Canada gals did an awesome job planning and executing the event from start to finish, including some homespun entertainment. The hosts passed the Motor Maid flag to the Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona District representative to hold for next year’s convention in Santa Fe, NM.As the evening comes to a close we are packing our bags for tomorrow’s departure. We’ll be touring Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island in the week ahead.
