Motor Maids 2015 – Moncton, NB
This year’s Motor Maids convention will be in Moncton, NB. We started the journey early this morning at 6:15 with our intended destination of Statesville, NC, a 650 mile trek. Just as with the going-home legs of a trip, the first couple of days are mostly spent on the highway with a few gas stops. We usually ride about 150 miles before stopping for gas.
Today we had lunch at a Subway. Beth had picked up a Subway points card earlier this week, but when we tried to use it, the clerk said they weren’t participating in this points-on-a-card deal. SUBWAY! Why aren’t your promotions system-wide? Don’t you have any computers?
We had rain between Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC. The weather radar app on my phone showed a huge system crossing our path, so we donned the gear ahead of time and rode through.
The first few miles were the worst. The wind was blowing pretty hard and the gusts grabbed the bikes. Once we got past that section it was just rain – the kind you can do 65-70 through.
Tomorrow we’re going to have some riding fun.
