Peggy’s Cove
We started the morning at the Bear on the Lake Guesthouse. We had breakfast and an early departure.
The weather was was chilly, but the rain gear kept us warm. We made our way down to the bridge to Nova Scotia in quick time. We turned off the highway onto the scenic route. From the start the roads of the scenic route were pretty bad. In fact they were the worst we’ve ever been on. The washboard surface, patches, and potholes were bone-jarring. After a couple of hours of torture we stopped for gas. The woman at the station said all the roads along the southern coast were bad, so we made our way up to the highway and made a bee line for Peggy’s Cove. We arrived there late in the afternoon.
We went out on the rocks to take pictures.
Then we walked to town for more pictures…
and a little Christmas Shopping.
There is a memorial to Swissair Flight 111 which crashed off the coast near Peggy’s Cove in September 1998. We stopped there for a few pictures.
We reached our destination of Hubbards, a small town on the tip of St. Margaret’s Bay. We had dinner at a restaurant on a cove.
We are settled for the night. More fun and better roads tomorrow.
