Starting the Tour
After breakfast Friday we packed up (along with 400 other Motor Maids) and said goodbye to Moncton. The Atlantic Canada district gals did such a great job with this convention. We had so much fun and the riding to Moncton was nice.
We headed south to Nova Scotia. We traveled many back roads. Some of the roads were excellent; many of the roads were terrible. The bad roads looked just like those in Pennsylvania where the pavement is broken, sunken, and patched. Harrisburg needs to stop exporting their road building expertise
We encountered many inspiring vistas.
Farther out to sea and to the left of the rocks above we saw a whale.
.There are also lots of wild flowers along the sides of the roads.
We stopped for lunch at an out-of-the way seafood restaurant in a fishing cove. We had hamburgers. LOL. No, we had the seafood platter and chips. It seemed so far off the beaten path that it wouldn’t do much business, but there was a steady stream of customers while we were there. Notice the lobster pots all stacked up. Lobster season just ended.
After lunch we came upon the Celtic Music museum. We went in and learned a lot about Gaelic culture on Cape Bretton Island and northwestern Nova Scotia where the immigrants from Ireland and western Scotland settled.
There were so many things to see. We couldn’t stop everywhere and pictures or videos couldn’t do the sights justice. We did stop when we could to take pictures.
Our destination was the Bear On the Lake hostel near Aberdeen, NS. We made it up the very steep gravel drive and parked the bikes for the night.
