2016 Convention Day 1
As was the case last year, there was an organized men’s ride this morning. About 20 guys rode with the local HOG chapter president on a very nice ride on the High Road to Taos. I was supposed to be the assistant sweep, but I had to stop and fix one of my saddlebags. One of the mounting bolts had come loose. I fixed it, and rode most of the ride by myself, catching up to the group. I caught up with them at an overlook.
The sweep was riding a Slingshot, but the rest of the riders were on conventional motorcycles.
The Motor Maids started their convention with the Welcome meeting. Beth will have to tell you about it.
Beth here: We had close to 450 members and a few invited guests at the meeting, including the mayor of Santa Fe and the local Harley dealer owners. All were very welcoming. We reviewed parade and road rally protocols and welcomed 70+ first-time attendees – known as Red Ribbons for the distinctive ribbon on their name tags. I had lunch with gals from Pennsylvania and Indiana. Back to Tim…
At dinner time, Santa Fe Harley hosted dinner and an open house. Beth and I had the vegetarian Southwest Lasagna. The noodles were made from corn meal and the sauce tasted like hot tamale sauce. It was OK, but I much prefer lasagna with meat in it.
After dinner Beth went to do some laundry and meet with the girls who are returning to Florida together.
