Impromptu Departure for Montgomery
Our original plan was to leave for Montgomery, AL and the Motor Maids convention early Monday morning. It’s only 450 miles from our home to the hotel, so we thought that would be an easy one-day ride. Late in the afternoon Beth suggested we leave in an hour or two and ride part way.
We finished packing our things and loading the bikes. Before we left we stopped to see our neighbor, Janice, who was planning to go the convention, but had to cancel at the last minute because her mom passed away early this week. She was sad she couldn’t go, but had to stay home for obvious reasons.
We rode for a few hours, stopped for dinner, and stopped for the night around midnight. We don’t usually ride this late into the evening, but there are few good hotels on US-19 north of Crystal River. We ended up in Perry, FL.
Tomorrow we head to the host hotel and explore a bit of the Montgomery neighborhood around the convention center.
Have fun!
