Motor Maids Convention 2019
The 2019 Motor Maids convention was held at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, CA.
Convention Day 1
Tuesday July 9. Beth attended the welcome meeting in the morning and helped out in the supply store for awhile. The Supply Officer had a mishap on her motorcycle on the way to convention and broke her leg. She never made it out of Florida. Several women stepped in to help out in the store.
The Biggs Harley-Davidson HOG chapter invited Motor Maid spouses to join them on a ride. We rode over the mountains and down along the ocean. It was a very nice ride. We stopped at an overlook with a view of Lake Elsinore. The next stop was at the Harley dealer, where I left the group and returned to the resort.
At 4:30 the women met in the resort’s theater for a group picture.
After the picture the women rode to the staging area for the parade.
After the parade we met friends from Florida and walked downtown for dinner.
Convention Day 2
Wednesday July 10. The main event on the second day of the convention was the Dot Robinson Road Run. The women got in line at 6 a.m. to get their starting times. The event has been called “Pajamarama.” The idea is to wear an outlandish pajama. A prize is awarded for the most creative and outlandish costume. Most of the outlandish pj’s appeared after I went back upstairs. The members with the best pj’s received awards after the Thursday business meeting.
Beth drew no. 15. She said the course was very challenging. She had 11 points deducted, but finished 3rd in the A Class.
In the late afternoon we took a leisurely walk around the hotel and visited the pool.
Convention Day 3
Thursday July 11. On Day 3 Beth attended the business meeting in the morning. There wasn’t anything to vote on, so the meeting ended early.
In the afternoon we rode to the MotoDoffo winery to see their collection of antique motor bikes.
When we got back from our ride we went to the pool and swam for a bit. It’s definitely a resort pool.
The banquet and presentation of awards was held in the evening.
Tim, did you and Beth try any of the wineries in Temecula? I viaited a few of them while visiting my daughter and son-in-law who is in the Navy. Tom Woolaway
We visited Motodoffo to see the motorcycles. We didn’t do any tasting or buy any wine. It was too $$$ for us.
