Seguin to Van Horn
Today was a more-typical day than yesterday. The morning weather was cool and overcast, which is optimal for motorcycle travel.
We stopped at McDonald’s for our morning coffee. Our motorcycles are often conversation starters as they were this morning. This young woman was excited to talk to us. She just got a Harley and is schedule to take the beginners’ classes in a few weeks.
Notice the color scheme of her car. The interior was also decked out in orange and black.
After we finished our coffee, this rider stopped us to ask us about the CamelBack water bladders we carry in our tank bags.
Lunch was at a rest stop. It was starting to get warmer, but it was still pleasant.
About 90 miles from our destination the temperature jumped from 95 degrees to 100 degrees. It was very hot and unpleasant, so we stopped at the next gas station to soak our wet vests and add water to the CamelBacks.
The final 60 miles into Van Horn were much more pleasant even though the temperature went as high as 103 deg.
We checked into the Taylor Motel. It’s an old-time motel with carports between the units. Our room is one that has been completely renovated. It’s clean and nice.
We walked about 3/4 of a mile up the highway for dinner a the Van Horn Cattle Co. restaurant. We had a super-delicious steak and a Caesar salad. Along the way to the restaurant we stopped to take some pictures of some lawn art.
Now we are back at the motel enjoying the evening.
Here is yesterday’s vlog:
