Silver City to Scottsdale and Sun City West
On Day 7 of our California adventure we rode from Silver City to Scottsdale. The temperature was cool (67 deg.) when we left. It felt so cool we put on our jacket liners. We took back roads, AZ-90 to US-70 to US 60.
We stopped for breakfast at The Ranch House restaurant in Duncan, AZ. The food was good and the service very good.
We continued our journey and stopped for lunch at a rest area.
By then, the temperature was in the upper 90s, so we put on the wet vests and continued to ride west into the heat. By the time we arrived in Scottsdale the temperature was about 104 deg. We stopped once to add water to the vests.
We made it to our friends’ home and tucked the bikes into the garage.
Betty and Bill took us to dinner at a golf club nearby. We had a great meal and delightful conversation.
On Day 8 we went to church and to lunch with Betty and Bill. From their home we rode across to Sun City West, where we visited with my 4th cousin, Marilyn and her husband, Gene.
We covered the bike to keep the seats from getting fried in the heat.
Marilyn and Gene live in this continuing care facility.
Tomorrow we head west on I-10 and then down to Temecula, where the Motor Maids convention will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
