Off to Shark Week – Day 2
We took our time getting packed today as we had only 190 miles to our destination. Fortunately Sunday morning traffic going around Atlanta was light allowing us to roll into Bryson City, NC by noon. We parked in the Nantahala Brewery parking and waited for our friends, Evie and Mark to join us for lunch.
After lunch we rode up the mountain to Evie and Mark’s home. They have a spacious log cabin style home with spectacular views.
The road up the mountain to their home is steep with a couple of very tight switchbacks. We made it to the top Ok, but Beth felt she would have difficulty negotiating the switchbacks on the way back, so I rode her bike down. I made it around the switchbacks with little difficulty, but ran into trouble at a fork in the road. I wasn’t sure which to go, so when I came to the fork, I took it – and dropped the bike in the “V.” Mark, Beth and I eventually got the bike turned around and Beth rode it down the hill the rest of the way. Riding my bike down was a piece of cake. Riding a bike you are familiar with is always easier.
Our son, Drew, joined us at our hotel in Maggie Valley. Together we rode to Waynesville to see the Tesla Quartet in concert. They were joined by Alexander Fiterstein as they played of quintets by Prokofiev and Mozart.

Monday we are off to the other side of the mountain to meet up with the rest of the Road Gliders for Shark Week VII in Cherokee, NC.
