Plenty Hot
Our morning temperatures were warm; the afternoon the temperatures were 95-97 degrees. Of course there was no rain to contend with.
We found some shade in the back corner of a Walmart parking lot and set up our chairs for lunch.
Our route took us on some county and state back roads. We sailed along as the speed limit on the two-lane roads in Texas is often 75 mph.
The road to our Bunk-a-Biker hosts, Shannon and Tom, is gravel with sand under the gravel. I fish-tailed several times, but kept the bike up and navigated across the pasture to our camp site.
A few of Shannon’s friends joined us for dinner and conversation. We had a great time and delicious fajitas for dinner.
By the time the sun went down the temperature dropped enough for sleeping and we slept well.
Here’s a quick tip for rider: When checking pressure on the rear tire of your bike, do not let any part of your hand touch the brake rotor. It’s hot enough to burn you.
We covered 325 miles today. During past trips we pushed 500-600 miles a day to get where we were going. On this trip we have the luxury of more time and are doing shorter segments.
I’ve been “stung” by the edge of a hot brake rotor a few times. OUCH! Love your blog.
