Tuesday, 8/1 – Anchorage

We had glorious weather for an outing and chose to go to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. There were live demonstrations, displays explaining the native culture, and a guided tour of the homes of geographically dispersed native groups.

We watched demonstrations of drumming, dance and athletic games.

There were lots of displays explaining various aspects of their culture.

…and displays of arts and crafts.

We took the guided tour of the various types of homes the people lived in.

After visiting the center we enjoyed a restful afternoon and dinner at the campsite.
