End of One Adventure, Start of Another
Thursday, 8/10 – Kitwanga, BC to Prince Rupert, BC
This is the last post in our Alaska 2023 adventure. Today we start a new adventure, Pacific to Atlantic. We decided to ride to Prince Rupert on the Pacific coast and work our way across the continent to the Atlantic near Williamsburg, Va.
Lynne and Mike are working their way south to Seattle to spend a week with their grandchildren.
We got on the road by 7:30 a.m. and rode for an hour to Terrace, BC, where we had breakfast at Tim Hortons.
We finally got to see a couple of moose – the ones painted on the building adjacent to Tim Hortons.
One of the patrons in the restaurant asked if we had locked our bikes. We had, but we have a few things strapped on. He said it was a sketchy area with a lot of thievery. In fact, before we came into the restaurant a woman asked if we had any spare change. We said, “No,” and she politely wished us a good day. We kept our breakfast time short.
When we came out of the restaurant, Beth’s bike started to start, then went cold. There was clearly an electrical failure. I checked the fuses and tightened the ground terminal ever so slightly. After that, Beth was able to start the bike.
We rode on to Prince Rupert on the Pacific coast. We had clouds and drizzle and sun and rain and sun on the 100 mile ride.
In Prince Rupert we checked out a few places along the waterfront.
Our campground hosts suggested we go to Bob’s on the Rocks in Prince Rupert for fish and chips, which is what we did. The fish was good, but the chips were under-cooked.
The ravens thought they would like some fish and chips, too.
A marina is called a “float.” Bob’s is near the “New Floats.”
After lunch we visited The Museum of Northern British Columbia. They have very nice exhibits and collections of artwork. Most of the explanations were centralized, making it a little more difficult to know what you were looking at in a display case.
Continue the story of our next adventure, Pacific to Atlantic.
Miles ridden in our Alaska Adventure: 8,400.
What an Awesome trip. Thank you for taking the time to wright this Blog.
You’re welcome.
Good thing you know how to work on those bikes!
I’d like to say we look forward to some driveway chats but it’s..so..HOT!!!🥵 Certainly we’ll need cold beverages.
Ride safely.
We can take the chats inside and enjoy the cool beverages.
You folks send beautiful pictures to tell the story. Enjoy your cooler weather was 97 here yesterday. Our 10 day get-a-way to Oregon, San Fransisco, and Napa Valley was a lot of fun and enjoyed the cooler weather. You’ll have so many stories to tell when you get home. Keith & Darlene
Thank you.
Does one of the trikes ride better than the other ? Both have to better than the HD rigid axle suspension.
The Harley conversion has more rake than the GW, so it is easier to steer. Both have independent rear suspension and comfortable seats.
