Sunday, 7/30 – Palmer to Anchorage

We left our cozy motel room in Palmer for the short ride (less than an hour) to Anchorage to our camp spot at Golden Nugget RV Park. We stopped at Walmart on the way for a few groceries.

Tim thought it would be a good idea to get the oil to do our oil changes. He reached out to a local Bunk A Biker host who had advertised tools and a garage in his profile to see if we might schedule a time to stop by. He was only a couple of miles from Walmart and said come on over. He’s ridden from the Arctic circle to Tierra del Fuego at the southern tip of South America. Wonderful guy and generous with his time.

With clean oil in both bikes, we continued the remaining 10 miles to our campground to set up. Dinner is done. The formerly cloudy skies are clearing up and the temperature is a pleasant 70 degrees. We should be able to tolerate a low of 56 tonight.

Next, we’re off to explore Anchorage for the next 3 days.
