Visiting the Farm
Here’s a picture I forgot to include earlier. This is coffee and breakfast on the balcony in Asheville.

Saturday
The day was cool and overcast. We had nothing planned for the day and relaxed. Harry took us on a walking tour of the farm. We poked our heads into the outbuildings and admired all the work they’ve done to fix up the place. We walked back to the house and fed the donkeys.

The chickens like to hide in the brush under a tree.

Cheryl is Postmistress of the Indian Valley post office. The office is open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. six days a week. There are seven post boxes at the office.

Outside the office are some old gas pumps.

The computer system hasn’t worked in over a year. I did a little troubleshooting and determined either the firewall or the switch is bad. Getting the vendor to come out and fix it is a challenge. With the system down, the only thing Cheryl can sell is stamps.

Late afternoon we went to a brew pub in Floyd, VA.

A post office colleague of Cheryl’s provided some entertainment.

We stopped at Food Lion on the way home to pick up a few groceries.
Sunday
While Friday and Saturday were overcast and dreary, Sunday was gloriously sunny and cool. It was an ideal travel day for us with temperatures in the 70s. We took some interstates and some 4-lane US highways. Our coffee break was at McDonald’s.

We lunched at a rest stop on I-64.

We checked in at three Harley shops along the way. Beth completed her five check ins for the August challenge.
We arrived at Beth’s mom’s home in Williamsburg mid-afternoon. We’ll stay with her for a few days before (finally) returning home.
Statistics:
Sunday – 312 miles
Total summer travels – 8,636 miles.
