Riding to Asheville
We had a short day ahead of us (265 miles) so we took our time getting on the road. We’d had two cups of coffee by the end of breakfast, so our morning break was just a gas stop. The temperature was 95-96 degrees most of the day.
Our picnic lunch was in a park in Newberry, SC. This park is very well-maintained and has been updated.

I try to find interesting things to include in my posts, and this park delivered. These left-behind slippers remind me of someone I know who forgot his shoes on the beach on Lake Nipigon (Ontario) in 1962.

The city even installed a defibrillator!

Incandescent light bulbs have been replaced with LED fixtures.

The jungle-gym is modern and clean. However, it’s much safer (and thus less fun) than the monkey bars and slides we played on as kids. Those metal slides were very hot, which made climbing up them extra challenging.

The highlight of the park for us, was this pair of swings for wheelchair users.

We had to stop for gas and to cool off when we were about 60 miles from Asheville. We had some Good Humor ice cream. No, Beth didn’t buy any wine or spirits here. In fact, it being Sunday, that part of the store was closed. That’s just where she parked.

We made it to our hotel without any additional delay and greeted several of our Road Glide family.

Our room is at the end of the hall on the left. Ironically, many of our hotel rooms, including the one in Spokane, have been at the end of the hall on the left. As an end room, we have a balcony and a nice view.

We spent the late afternoon in the bar greeting friends and eating a light dinner. Later, we rode to Ingles grocery for a few items.
Yup it’s hot out there. A little drizzle wouldn’t hurt.
We had a thunder storm this afternoon. It cooled things off.
