On to Richmond
This morning I said goodbye to the mountains of western North Carolina and set my route for Richmond, Va.
As is usually the case when I travel from one city to another, there isn’t much to report and not much to photograph. The day started out cool and the temperature rose to 91 degrees.
In Richmond I met shipmates from my time on the Saratoga. We were all officers and lived in staterooms in one area of the ship. We haven’t seen each other in 44 years.
We had dinner and talked until midnight. The conversation will continue in the morning. In the afternoon I’ll head to Williamsburg.
Staterooms?
As officers we had staterooms, each with two bunks, two closets, two desks, and a sink.
