Nashville
This post is delayed because the Wi-Fi at the Wyndam Resorts here in Nashville won’t let my laptop connect. I spent an hour on the phone with tech support, but she wasn’t able to figure it out. My solution to the problem is to go to MacDonalds and upload this post.
Sunday evening, after creating my last post, I got sick. I’ll spare you the details, but I was very uncomfortable all evening and drank Gatorade to make sure I didn’t get too hydrated. Monday morning I felt very tired and stayed in bed a little while and read Facebook. To my surprise I saw that several others in our group got sick on their way home. Our leader has requested details from everyone who got sick and has contacted the health department. He said he got sick at the same hotel one other time.
Monday morning I felt like going home and crawling into bed for week, but since that wasn’t possible, jrBean and I did the next best thing and rode 485 miles to Nashville. I was pretty tired and not hungry at all, but pushed ahead. We crossed norther Arkansas on US-412. It’s a nice road and lightly traveled, but it is very slow. The speed limit is 55 mph and there are long stretches of 45 mph through any place that calls itself a town. I was finally able to eat something for dinner at Subway after we arrived and checked in.
We are staying at a Wyndam Resorts condo complex that jr booked. Our unit has two bedrooms, tow bathrooms, a jetted tub, etc. It’s very upscale with appropriate topiary planted on the grounds.
This morning we had a gourmet breakfast at MacDonald’s, then headed east to Lebanon, TN to see fellow Road Glide riders, Ben and Wanda Treat. They’ve built their retirement home in this rural community. The garage and breezeway are in the final stages of construction.
Ben and Wanda gave a us the cook’s tour of the property and home featuring Wanda’s garden shed and Ben’s barn.
At the back of the property is a sink hole. Ben discovered it when he saw what looks like a dune buggy frame in a depression. He dropped a rock down the hole and never heard it hit bottom!
There are several sections to the barn. There is still hay in the loft. There are sting ties and poles for drying tobacco and a crib for feeding cows. The gate Ben is operating was used to hold a cow in place for whatever reason
Up the road from Ben and Wanda’s are a couple of antique stores with a bunch of signs and stuff. American Pickers would have a good time here.
Originally we planned to go to the Jack Daniel’s distillery, but after a relaxed visit with Ben and Wanda we decided to take the rest of the day off and relax.
Tomorrow we head for Panama City, FL.
