Riding Around Day 2
We started Day 2 of the Spring BBQ Run in Eureka Springs with breakfast at McDonald’s. Rick decided to take the day off and I joined the group for the day’s ride. We began at the Harley shop, which just carries motor clothes and trinkets. I didn’t need another t-shirt, so I didn’t add anything to my luggage.
The day’s ride was long and filled with one curve after another. Our first rest stop was a restaurant. A few people needed to use the restroom.
We stopped for gas in Jasper, which has one of only a couple of gas stations in the whole riding area. Ray was having trouble with his shifter linkage and managed to tighten it up.
We tried to have lunch at Cliff House, but there were about 70 people ahead of us with reservations, so we rode on. Our destination was Oark Café, which has great hamburgers and pies. However, our leader, Jack, wanted to be sure we rode many great roads. We rode so much Jack had to create an impromptu rest stop so we could get off the bikes for a few minutes.
It took us about 3-1/2 hours to get to Oark and it was worth the time it took.
Lunch was over about 4:30 p.m. We got back on the bikes and high-tailed it for Eureka Springs, arriving about 6:30 p.m. We spent the evening sitting around the tables on the hotel deck, telling stories and consuming a very moderate amount of adult beverages. We said our goodbyes and look forward to getting together next in July for Shark Week VII.
Rick and I will continue our adventure tomorrow as we head to California. We’ll do a lot of touring along the way. Please check back here to follow our trip.
A pie run would be good.
I think that’s next year’s theme.
