Getting a Start to Eureka Springs, AK
Our Spring riding trip is underway! We almost didn’t get started today. My bike had a problem that stumped the Harley service department. When applying the front brake at speeds above 60 mph, there was a strong chattering of the front wheel. After a day-and-a-half of testing, the service manager decided to send me off with a new front wheel and tire borrowed from a bike with 240 miles on it. Many thanks to the service manager at Bert’s Barracuda Harley-Davidson.
We are headed for Eureka Springs, AK, to meet up with other Road Glide riders and ride the Ozarks for a couple of days. After that we’ll ride down to Jefferson, TX, to meet more Road Glide riders and ride East Texas.
We stopped for dinner at the 19/98 Grill in Fanning Springs, FL. The restaurant is an American grill with an extensive menu. They have a collection of photos of John Wayne covering one wall. We split a sandwich and a salad, which was just enough.
It was very warm this afternoon. The temperature sensors on the bikes measured 91 degrees. Beth worked up a sweat after 3 hours of riding in that heat. To prevent chafing, she powdered her legs after dinner.
She keeps a large container of Monkey Butt powder in her tank bag.
Tomorrow we head for Jackson, MS.
Have a ball, take care and be safe. XX
But with no Road Glide don’t you feel like foreigners?
Safe trip.
Wait. Do you still have the RG?
I bought Rick’s before he passed away.
