Final Leg
We rode home from Mandeville today, covering the 630 miles in 12-1/2 hours. We rode through 20 miles of rain the whole day. The cloud cover kept the temperatures cool until we reached Tallahassee and turned south. Then it was back to Florida temperatures and humidity.
We had our usual morning coffee break and a picnic lunch at a rest area.
Dinner was at the Sun Stop Market in Cross City, Fla. We discovered this market and gas station by chance a couple of years ago. The market has a deli and salad bar, which we like.
We got home about 9:30 p.m., unpacked, started laundry, and caught the opening of Saturday Night Live. We couldn’t keep our eyes open much longer and retreated for the night.
Our next big adventure is to the Motor Maids convention in Temecula, Cal. We’ll start the journey in early July. Of course, it’s bound to be very hot riding across the south, and we’ll pack our wet vests to wear while riding in the drier hot areas. Our friend, Skip, told us about the motorcycle collection at the Doffo Winery, which is about 12 miles from the hotel where we will be staying in Temecula. We hope to get a chance to go there.
