Jackson to Eureka Springs With Rain
Rain was our major concern today as we rode from Jackson to Eureka Springs. The radar app showed all of Arkansas covered with rain. We decided to put on our rain gear before we left so we’d be ready whenever we ran into the rain.
Here is our morning coffee stop in Eudora, AR.
The sign on the water tower says, “Eudora, The Catfish Capital of Arkansas. Too bad we’re too early for lunch!
At 200 miles into our trip we encountered three minutes of rain. At 250 miles we hit real showers which lasted for about 75 miles.
We opted for lunch at McDonald’s instead of a picnic in the rain. By the time we finished, the rain stopped and we had sunny skies and dry pavement the rest of the day.
Beth led the way up the “Pig Trail” (AR-23) with its tight curves and switchbacks. We arrived at our hotel around 5:30 p.m. and greeted friends who had already arrived. After dinner at an Italian restaurant, we sat around catching up with our friends.
Tomorrow we’ll ride to Rymolines Pies restaurant in Fayetteville.
