Riding to Lunch
The rain stopped so today we resumed riding in East Texas. Our destination was the Athens Brewing Company in Athens, TX.
The parking lot thinned out as several people left so they could get back to work or try to beat the rain on their way home.
There were lots of goodbye hugs in the parking lot.
We took a break mid-morning after exiting a crowded stretch of I-20.
We also stopped at a Harley dealership. Interestingly, they also sell Triumph motorcycles. They had a Tiger Explorer 1200 on the floor, but no Trophys, which haven’t been sold in the US since 2016. Several members of the group bought souvenir tee-shirts.
Finally we made our way to our lunch stop in Athens. We sample some of the craft beer and had sliders and fries for lunch.
I had Vanilla Bean Porter, that was very good, and Beth had a red wine.
We were able to lean over the railing and see the fermentation tanks. They were hooked up to the chilled water system. Each tank had a temperature controller to keep them at the proper temperature for whatever was brewing.
On the way back the group stopped at Lake O’ the Pines to take a picture. I missed seeing the lake since I got caught at a red light and followed the GPS back to the hotel a different way.
Tomorrow we will start back home. Rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days, so we’ll just ride through it as carefully as we can.
