This was the day to head home after being away for more than a month. I was up at the usual time and left at 6:15 am. before the sun was up.

The first part of the trip was through northwestern Arizona down to Flagstaff. I said goodbye to the mountains, mesas, and red rocks.

Once I reached Flagstaff, I got on I-40 and just kept going. I hit a couple of 1-minute rain showers and some heat. This evening, for a couple of hours, I watched a large rain system that was north of the highway several miles. I stopped for the day about 8:15 pm somewhere west of Amarillo, TX. I covered about 860 miles.

Tomorrow is more of the same on eastbound I-40 to Memphis, then I’ll head southeast to the Florida panhandle.
