Today we set out for New Hampshire and Shark Week IV – “Insane In Maine.” The hotel, however, is in Gorham, NH. Perhaps we’ll ride some good roads in Maine. On our way to SW we stop in Pittsburgh to see friends then ride up to Erie, PA  for the four-day Gypsy Tour to Gorham.

Our route took us north on I-95 to I-26 to I-77 to Statesville, NC. As usual we stopped for lunch and Beth got on the phone to do some business.

What wasn’t usual, but seems to be a habit, my bike was making a grinding noise and was difficult to start. We decided to stop at Thunder Tower Harley-Davidson, east of Columbia, SC and have them take a look at it. It needed a new compensator and with a little persuasion they agreed to stay and finish the work before going home. Thank goodness for the extended warranty which covered all but the deductible.

We killed time waiting for the repairs to be completed by having dinner at Quaker Steak and Lube across the street.  We got to our hotel about 9:30, headed for the shower, and quickly dropped off to sleep.

Tomorrow we head to Pittsburgh. We’re going to host a reception so we can see as many old friends as possible.
