Exploring Marble Falls
After a full breakfast my hosts fixed for me, I headed out toward Marble Falls, TX. I soon donned my rain gear and headed west into the gray clouds. In Marble Falls I met four fellow shark riders for brunch at the Blue Bonnet Diner. It’s a popular place and we had to wait in line for quite awhile.
After our meal we visited a local park. Janine grew up in Marble Falls; her dad and grand parents are buried there so the rest of us waited while she and Darrell visited the grave site.
My friends headed down to Kerrville and I headed back east to visit the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge and surroundings.
I didn’t see any animals, but there were plenty of wild flowers.
Next I headed down County Road 328. It follows Cow Creek.
At places the stream crosses the road on concrete troughs.
The creek is cutting a canyon in the surrounding limestone.
People parked alongside the road to picnic and play in the water. One particularly popular spot is near a small waterfall.
Click on this line for a short video of the falls.
There’s a photogenic old wind mill near an intersection.
After taking a picture of the windmill I put my rain gear back on and headed to my night’s lodging in Lakeway.
