Louisiana to Texas – Rain
I rode through a lot of rain today; much of it was very heavy. I don’t have many pictures because my camera was safely stowed in my saddlebag. I did get a hot of the Texas welcome sign.
The interesting story is about a sport bike rider (aka squid) I met briefly at a gas stop just before I ran into the rain. He came over and asked me what that looked like. “That” was the western sky, which was wall-to-wall thick, black clouds and rain. I said, “It looks like I am going to put on my rain suit.” He was wearing a helmet, jacket, shorts, and tennis shoes. His clothes were in a couple of plastic bags attached to his pillion. He obviously had no rain gear, so he headed off just as he was. I donned my gear and followed him a few minutes later.
My suit was leaking a bit in the downpour, so I pulled off into a gas station to make some adjustments. The other rider was there under the canopy, waiting it out. About a half hour later he passed me doing about 80. He looked to be soaking wet. Ah youth…
Tonight I’m in Cedar Park, TX at an airbnb home. My hosts are delightful.
