The Pacific War and (finally) Kerrville
The day started with rain. The day ended with rain. In between the weather was pretty good.
I rode to Fredericksburg, TX and went to the National Museum of the Pacific War. They have an extensive, in-depth exhibit. For me the most interesting part was the explanation of the events that created the basis for the war. The wars involving Japan, China, Russia, and Great Britain in the late 19th century set the stage for what became the War in the Pacific.
Adjacent to the museum are the hotel owned by Admiral Nimitz’s grandfather, a memorial garden, and a Japanese peace garden, which is closed because it is in disrepair.
I had lunch in downtown Fredericksburg.
I checked in to our hotel in Kerrville, and Drew arrived a little later. We had dinner at a nearby steak house, then Drew tightened the chain on his bike.
It’s raining tonight. We are signed up to go on a ride tomorrow and hope the rain doesn’t interfere.
