Shark Week Day 3 – Rides and Raffle
It was chilly and sunny this morning. It was another calendar-photo kind of day.
About 40 bikes went on an all-day ride. We went up to an overlook above Banff, to Lake Louise, to the spiral tunnels, and to lunch in Golden.
The two red chairs were at the Banff overlook. The view from those chairs was so good you could sit there all day, but we didn’t.
Lake Louise was beautiful – almost idyllic – but it was very crowded. We spent about a half-hour there enjoying the sun and the view.
The Spiral Tunnels are difficult to see. They were built by the Canadian Pacific Railroad a century ago to make the assent through the mountains easier. It would be a good idea to Google them and read about them.
After lunch I went straight back to the hotel to do a little repair on my bike. The power feed to my GPS was intermittent. I had to take off the fairing to find the source of the problem and fix it. The problem was a fuse that was not blown, but broken. I didn’t take any pictures, but it was a warm afternoon and a friend and I had fun working on the bike together.
This evening was the raffle. There were a lot f items donated by vendors and a few by other members. The purpose of the raffle is to raise seed money for next year’s Shark Week. As usual, I didn’t win anything.
Tomorrow I start my journey home. The posts for that journey are part of the Alaska adventure.
Safe travels coming home. You have had an experience of a lifetime,
Thanks.
