The Oregon Coast Part 2
We packed up and left the comfort of our hotel in Corvallis to return to the Oregon coast. We stopped for coffee at a very popular café in Newport.
US-101 is pretty bumpy and bouncy. The bike and trailer try to go their own ways, so keeping a smooth line is impossible.
The northern half of the Oregon coast is quite different from the southern half. Up north there is town after town and heavy traffic.
We managed to find a paved view point for lunch.
After lunch, we drove the Three Capes Scenic Loop, a 39-mile stretch of roadway by the sea. It was lovely, except for the last 4 miles, which had been ground down in preparation for a new top layer of asphalt, which resulted in a bit of a bumpy finish.
For our next trip we’ll have to invest in a GoPro. The ride on the bridge over the the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington was fantastic. It starts with a circular ramp, then climbs to the main bridge. After the bridge is a low level bridge and then another bridge that is not so tall as the main one.
A few miles into Washington we stopped for the night in Ocean Park.
We walked to dinner at the Berry Patch. It’s a nice diner, and the food was fine.
We stopped at the grocery store on our way back to the campground for a few items for tomorrow’s dinner. It’ll be chicken meat balls and pasta.
