We said goodbye to our host, Curt, filled the gas tanks at the place he recommended with “no ethanol”, and had breakfast at McDonald’s.

There was some construction on IA-150 including several miles of milled surface. My bike and the trailer danced back and forth the whole way. I was glad when we got back on solid pavement.

Our coffee stop was in Le Claire, IA, which was the location of Shark Week II in 2012. We had coffee in the gas station that is below the American Pickers retail shop.

I had coffee here one day in 2012 while waiting for laundry to finish. The town is on the Mississippi with a nice waterfront.

We crossed Illinois on IL-92 and US-52. The roads are straight with very little traffic. I felt right at home as we passed mile after mile of corn and soybeans.

We had lunch at Apple Orchard Park in Mendota, IL.

We ended the day at my brother’s home in New Lenox, IL. We’ll be here a couple of days while we chill out.
