The overnight temperature was 56 degrees. The clouds and fog did not clear, making it a rather dreary morning.

A section of US-101 south of Crescent City is under construction. The road is closed weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. We delayed our departure until 11 a.m. and headed north to get in line.

We got our first glimpse of the coast while we were waiting in line.

Once we got to Oregon the sun came out. The ski was a clear, brilliant blue. We also encountered very gusty wind, which pushed the bikes sideways occasionally.

We found a rest area with a real picnic table for lunch.

We also found a paved turnout along the coast and took a few pictures.

Tonight we are in a campsite with no hookups. There is a bath house and laundry, however.
