The Washington Coast
We woke up to a cloudy, cold morning. It was 56 degrees with some mist. We had breakfast then headed back to the Berry Patch to have a second cup of coffee and plan our route for the day.
We contacted Hoquiam River RV Resort and reserved a spot for the night.
Our route took us out to the coast and up to Westport. The dock area has lots of restaurants and shops. We walked around some, took a few pictures of the harbor, and visited the Westport Maritime Museum.
The building was built as a Coast Guard station in 1940.
The museum has the original light from the Destruction Bay lighthouse on display. The light was built in France in the mid-1800s. It has 1756 lenses and is six feet in diameter.
We got to our campground before 4 p.m. We were surrounded by members of the the Good Sam chapter in Vancouver, WA. They were very interested in our little trailer and watched us set it up. Later they invited us to sit in their chat circle.
The campground is situated right on the river bank.
As promised, Beth fixed meatballs and pasta.
We concluded the evening with a hot shower and some reading. (In an earlier campground there was no hot water in the Ladies’ shower.)
The neighbors gave us tips on what to see on the Olympic peninsula. We’ll head that way tomorrow.
Enjoy your blogs. Stay safe and continue a great journey.
Thanks. We are having a great time.
Brilliant thanks Tim and Beth 👍
