Tools For Installing the Reverse Gear
Here is the collection of tools and shop supplies I assembled to install the EurowingUSA MMD reverse gear for my 2016 Road Glide Ultra. For the Eurowing USA product page, Click Here
This is the video I did on the tools you’ll need.
You’ll need the tools used to do routine maintenance on your bike. This video shows you the tools I use:
Tools
Of course you’ll need the instruction manual from EurowingUSA…
and the Harley shop manual for instructions on removing the exhaust and for various torque values.
A bike stand or whatever you use to support the bike. I have a scissor jack.
I bought this brake bleeder. The clutch fluid has to be drained and reinstalled.
An air compressor is needed for the impact wrench, brake bleeder, and cleanup of the filings after drilling.
An air or electric impact wrench is required to remove the nuts on the transmission shafts.
A 1-1/8 in. impact socket will fit the nuts on the transmission shafts.
A torque wrench for the gears.
A drill is used to counter sink one of the screws and to mill the
output shaft.
A 3/4 in. counter sink bit to counter sink the hole for one screw.
Internal and external snap ring pliers are used to remove the spring ring and C-clip on the throw-out bearing.
An 11mm open end wrench for tightening the hydraulic line. (I had to file down one side of the wrench to tighten the nut.
A wire stripper/crimper for electrical connections.
Use a heat gun to shrink the shrink-wrap on the butt splice connectors.
You don’t need this Brake Fluid Tester, but it will allow you to test the moisture level in your clutch fluid. If it needs to be changed you’ll be able to do it yourself.
Shop Supplies
Thread locker is used on many fasteners, Use Blue for fasteners you want to be able to undo later.
Use Red thread locker for parts you don’t want to remove later.
You can use brake cleaner to clean up parts before applying thread locker.
Masking tape is used to keep metal filings out of the transmission.
Cutting oil makes drilling the shaft much easier.
Shop towels for general cleanup.
Gloves when bleeding the clutch fluid.
A towel to cover the tank.
