Members of the online forum, roadglide.org got together for a meetup for the first time in 2011. Chris Hutter organized the event and led a “Gypsy Tour” from Pittsburgh to Gettysburg. About 40 people on 33 Road Glides enjoyed riding in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. Each evening they sat together around picnic tables at the hotel and formed lasting friendships.
The group has met each year since and labeled the event “Shark Week” paying homage to the “Shark Nose” fairing of the Road Glide. Riders have also organized regional events around the country.

Eureka Springs, AR and Jefferson, TX
For our Spring trip we rode together to Eureka Springs, AR. This was Beth’s first trip to this part of Arkansas. She enjoyed riding the curvy roads. From Eureak Springs we rode south to Jefferson, TX to join other Road Glide riders and explore some sights in East Texas.
Road Glide National Rally – Shark Week IX
Beth chose not to go to Shark Week IX in Deadwood, SD, because the 2021 convention was slated for Rapid City, SD. She didn’t want to do the same trip two years in a row. Tim had no problem riding on his own and sharing a room in Deadwood with a friend.

My friend, Jim, and I met in Florida and rode to Eureka Springs and then to Terlingua, TX and Big Bend National Park.
Road Glide National Rally – Shark Week VIII
Shark Week VIII was in Durango, CO. My wife and I had a great time riding a portion of Route 66, touring New Mexico and Arizona, and riding through some of Colorado’s smaller mountains.

For our first major adventure of the year, my wife and I headed to West Texas to see the McDonald Observatory in Ft. Davis and Big Bend National Park near Terlingua, TX.
BBQ Run – Eureka Springs, AR
After returning from Texas, my friend, Rick, and I rode to Eureka Springs to meet fellow Road Glide riders and explore the Ozarks.
Road Glide National Rally – Shark Week VII
Shortly after returning from Illinois, we got back on the road to attend Shark Week VII in Cherokee, NC.

The first ride to the Big Bend National Park area was dubbed, “Tango in Terlingua” or “Shark Week V.5,” because it was between Shark Weeks V and VI.

Shark Week II was held in Le Claire, IA. The Gypsy Tour started in New Orleans and followed the Great River Road north to Le Claire. There were overnight stops in Memphis and St. Louis.

Road Glide National Rally – Shark Week I
I rode to Pittsburgh for the first Road Glide National Rally AKA, “Shark Week.” The nickname is derived from the shape of the Road Glide fairing. It resembles a shark’s nose. The “Gypsy Tour” went from Pittsburg to Gettysburg, PA, the site of the rally.
