Heading Farther North
Yesterday’s ride was an excursion through British Columbia. Enough of this vacation stuff; it’s time to move this trip along and ride farther north.
I was up early as usual, packed up, and left Vernon, BC. I was happy to leave as this was not a good campground. The bathrooms were dirty and the coin operated shower valve didn’t work. Not only did I not get a shower, the valve kept my money.
I had breakfast at Tim Horton’s and used the Wi-Fi to check comments, catch up on Facebook, and message Beth. It was a partly sunny morning and the temperature was pleasant. However, I wasn’t 25 miles down the road when it started to rain. I put on the rain gear and kept it on all day long. It rained off-and-on. It rained about half the time.
It wasn’t raining when I stopped for lunch at a Subway. Next door was a Dog ‘n Suds. I haven’t seen one of those since I was a kid. The big photo above is of a mural painted on the wall behind the restaurant.
The roads today were normal highways without many curves. Because of the rain I didn’t take any pictures besides the Dog ‘n Suds.
Tonight’s campground, in Vanderhoof, BC, is a wonderful contrast to last night’s. The grounds are beautifully landscaped; the tent sight has plenty of grass; and there are playgrounds.
This is last night’s site:
And this is tonight’s:
This is a checker board for people. The stools are upside down. What fun it would be to play the game with a group of friends.
The owners are retiring and are either going to sell the property or close the campground. I hope they sell, because it is a great place to camp.
It looks as if it might rain tonight.
Tim- I have never even heard of a dog n suds, so this is just awesome to me. Be safe on your travels. Beth looks very well rested.
I was surprised! I thought she would comer back all beat-up, sore, and exhausted… but she seems like the ride did her some “good-for-the-soul”
I hope you are experiencing the same thing… on your L O N G journey! Peace be with you!
Beth is a good rider. Time away from work is always good. Thanks.
Tim, Enjoying your daily posts to places I’ll never get to see. Prayers for a continued safe journey.
Thanks!
