I am so happy that a friend introduced me to your tutorials! I have been struggling with base camp for some time now and feel like I might finally be making some decent progress.
I looked at Garmin Explore but was not impressed with it. I did not like being able to see if the route I was creating was actually going to follow the roads intended.

I’m glad you find the tutorials helpful. Yes, Garmin Explore just stores waypoints and doesn’t plat the route. It assumes the GPS will pick the route. That’s not how motorcyclists plan routes.
Thanks for the informative tutorials. About 10-years ago I used Basecamp for a field work that I was doing. I am a midrange (I know enough to be dangerous) GIS user mostly for input data for flood studies. I needed to plan a 3-day trip to visit 40 river/bridge sites. I used GIS to plot locations for each, but with the scattering of locations in 3 Florida counties I could not figure out the best/ most efficient route. I had (have) a Garmin Nuvi1350 and with a little web searching found Basecamp. I exported my locations from GIS (KMS-KMZ) and imported into Basecamp. The program quickly optimized the route for me with only 1 refinement needed, WOW. The route was exported to the Nuvi, and the rest is history. P.S. the bees at river bridges are terrible in the spring.
You’re a easy salesman to listen too an have me very interested in Basecamp. Working for the first time with the Garmin Montana series is a struggle for now but you have my undivided attention.
