Heading Home, First Leg
This morning I slept until I woke up, which was 4:44 a.m. I considered trying to go back to sleep, but that seldom works, so I got up, packed the bike, had breakfast, and gassed up at Murphy Express. This brand is my least favorite and this station lived up to the reputation of others I’ve been to. The pump was out of paper and there was no attendant on duty to give me a duplicate.
I went east on I-40. The temperature was 56 degrees and the gear I had on was fine for that temperature. After I climbed out of the mountains it dropped to 43 degrees. I stopped and put on another layer at the first exit I came to.
Just before leaving New Mexico I stopped at another Russell’s Travel Center. This must be the main one, because it is much larger than the one we visited earlier in the week.
The free car museum has lots of cars and memorabilia. I took pictures of most of the cars for you to enjoy. I recommend stopping here next time you are on I-40 to see the cars for yourself.
This Kharman Ghia was particularly interesting. It’s a 1973 coupe. I had a 1968 convertible.
This evening I’m staying with friends, John and Nikki. We went to dinner with other Road Glide Friends.
Tomorrow I’m going to hang out here and chill. Happy Mothers’ Day to all you moms.
