Update – Recovery Begins
First of all, thank you to everyone who has sent prayers and expressions of love, concern, and assistance. We read every comment here and on Facebook and appreciate each one.
Beth had exploratory surgery on her pelvis last evening. The surgeon manipulated her pelvis with x-ray assistance. He put screws in two of the four breaks in the front. (The other two are not accessible.) The manipulation of the area where the pelvis connects to the spine showed it to be stable, so he didn’t do anything there. She will not be able to bear weight for 6 weeks.
The torn shoulder ligaments should heal on their own, and the broken ribs will have to heal by themselves as well.
This morning she reports she is trying to move her legs around to keep them flexible and the ribs are uncomfortable. She’s answered Facebook comments and requesting cancellation of the hotel in Rapid City.
We don’t know how long Beth will have to be in the hospital or a rehab facility. Once we have a better idea of the time frames we’ll work with the case manager to see if it is feasible to get Beth back to St. Pete to finish her recovery.
Thank you so much Tim for your updates! Is there anything in st Pete we can help with?
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and Beth for a speedy recovery.
We were so sorry to hear of Beth’s accident. We hope her recovery will be tolerable and not too difficult. If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Prayers for you both.
Best wishes to Beth for a speedy recovery!
I am going to send her a card in care of Cindy Black. I hope that is ok. If you would rather I didn’t just say so.
That’s fine and appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks for the update. I’m glad Beth feels well enough to read our comments! I love and miss you Neth! One day at a time. I’m sure it helps that Beth is young & healthy!!!
You have a good plan going!
Thanks, Clara. I appreciate your concern.
Tim … super update information about Beth … and you too … Beth is in all of our prayers and hearts – and you too !! If I were young and had a truck with a bed to haul the bikes, I would come get you. If Jack & I can do anything here to help, don’t hesitate to ask, we’re here for you. Cheers, hugs to Beth and you 😊 …Richard & Jack
You guys are great! We’ll have a transport company take care of shipping. Since I don’t know how long I will be here, or whether I will go into a rehab facility, or when I get stable I could fly home. I need to spend some time with my case manager to get all that information.
Thank you for the updates! Great to hear she’s flexeing her legs! . Prayers and wishing speedy recovery Charlotte
