Update – Recovery 2
Good Morning All,
Here’s the latest on Beth’s recovery.
Yesterday they moved her from ICU to a regular room.
The Physical Therapy folks showed her how to get from the bed to a chair by standing on her left leg and pivoting. She has to do that with assistance; she’s not to try it on her own. This morning she said the problem with getting up and moving around is not the pelvis, but the ribs. While standing on one leg she has to bend her torso and that’s what hurts.
I saw her yesterday afternoon and took her Kindle to her. She’s had enough of playing solitaire and wants to read. Cindy cut irises from her yard and had me deliver those and a card as well.
I talked with her this morning; she’s very upbeat and taking it all in stride. The next several days are going to be similar – read, have her meals, do her PT, and move around a bit.
Beth is in a good place – she really likes the care she is getting at St. Vincents. I’m in a good place as well. Cindy Black is providing me a base of operations and the support I need to help Beth recover, keep everyone informed, and work toward getting us and our stuff home. We know it will take time to get to the point where she and the doctor can decide how long she needs to stay in the hospital before going to rehab and home, but in time it will happen.
We appreciate all the comments you’ve posted here and on Facebook. It’s reassuring to know we have an army of friends supporting us.
Great news! I can totally relate! Beth, keep up with the happy pills 🤗 . Sending positive energy and prayers. Charlotte
Thanks, Charlotte!
Been there, non weight bearing is bad enough, can’t imagine what it’s be like with busted ribs besides. Full speed ahead Beth, hopefully the healing will happen fast and will soon be a distant memory.
Thanks, Tom. It’s nice to hear from others who have gone through similar situations.
I’m reading about your travels last year. Just amazed with your plans and preparation. I knew my days riding to convention is done. With our Motor Maids I can follow the events. I see yours are canceled for Rapid City to get strong and prepare for the next adventure is a goal! No one can do it like you both. Prayers daily and thankyou for sharing your recovery a strong example to strive for.
Thanks, Kathii Lee, for your concern. I appreciate it.
Prayers for confidence and less pain! We got your back Tim! If there is anything we can do to help please let us know!!
Thanks for checking in. I appreciate hearing from you.
Know that you are in Rob’s and my prayers.
Thanks for the update Tim. So wonderful to hear Beth is already able to move around and, most importantly, is in a good place mentally as she prepares for the challenges ahead. Mega kudos to Ms Cindy Black for the huge amounts of support she’s providing both of you at this time. We should all be so lucky!
Keep strong and healing.
Hope Beth recovers quickly Tim, and that you both are able to be back on the road asap. I’ve had a few cases of fractured / broken ribs over the years due to sport injuries, and they are the worst in terms of pain, and they take 6 weeks in my case to mend. I sympathize greatly, good luck to you both 👍
Beth and Tim we are going to convention but if there is anything we can do to help or if you need us in Tennessee as a stopover let us know. What condition is her bike in? Cindy is the best at organizing a Motor Maid relay to get it home if its rideable. That’s how we got mu bike from Florida to Wyoming when I lived in winter.
We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers for quick recovery.
Great news. Sounds like she is heading in the right direction towards getting better. Continued prayers for her healing.
Thanks for keeping your Army up to speed!! Please make sure Beth knows that her RMS family is thinking about her and praying for a speedy recovery! Beth, I admire you’re positive attitude. You’ll get through this with flying colors!!
Rest Up and try to listen to the doctors!! 🙂
Hi Beth & Tim! Great news to hear you are out of icu!!! As a retired nurse, don’t be afraid to ask for pain meds. Alternating types are good too. Be sure to medicate ahead of pt too!!! Bet you knew all that! Ha! Hope each day gets better. 🙂
Tim and Beth– you are in our healing prayers and loving hearts! Please take it easy Beth and follow the orders as given even if it is tearing on your last nerve. Know that you are missed and held in high regard and getting many a long distance hugs as your ribs heal!
Beth is now Timex, takes a lick and keeps on ticking.
So happy you have your friend Cindy for you. That support certainly makes it easier to take care of Beth. Happy to hear she is able to begin moving around but sorry she’s in pain. Love to you both!
Glad to hear Beth is doing better. She’s strong willed and will heal well. Hugs and prayers! Diana
Tim:
Your army grows daily!!
Best wishes to you and Beth.
Herb P.

Hey Mark, so good to hear from you. I’m just catching up on some of the comments on the earlier posts. Yes, the ribs are really the worst.
