Update – Recovery 3 – Rehab-Ready
Yesterday they removed Beth’s catheter, O2, O2 monitor, and IV port. She made one trip to the bathroom, with assistance, of course. She is now ready to transfer to a rehab facility.
While I was visiting Beth, the liaison person from The Rehabilitation Hospital of Montana came in to report the status of her transfer to rehab. They negotiated with Florida Blue to have Beth do her rehab here in Billings. Florida Blue argued that the rehab hospital is out of network, blah, blah, blah. She’s not medically ready to get on a plane, so Florida Blue agreed to the arrangement. We are waiting for their authorization, which might happen today, but it might take a couple of days.
Once the authorization is received, she will be transferred. They don’t know how long she will be in rehab. The goal is to get her commercial-airplane-ready. Usually the insurance companies authorize 7 days at a time with renegotiation each week.
The hospital social worker and the rehab liaison have all the information about the three insurance companies that are involved and will help us negotiate the claims process.
Beth received flowers from her aunt and uncle and cousins. She is very grateful for their gift and the outpouring of love and concern from her army.
